Grapefruit Skin Cocktail
The sun is shining, the weather is sweet, makes you wanna move, your dancing feet! Whatever the weather, the sun can shine from within by drinking this wonderful tonic that gives a burst of life to your skin, and reduces your cellulite. I am not kidding folks! There’s no point beating around the bush: unless you’re Gisele, a 19 year-old Victoria’s Secret Model, or workout for 2 hours, 5 days a week (we salute you Madonna), you’re going to have a conversation with cellulite. I have I have fought the good fight, eating well for most of my life, 13 years of yoga, and regular exercise, but hey, I’m only human.
I found this recipe a few years back in a wonderful book by the raw food guru, David Wolfe. The book is titled, “Eating for Beauty.” I fasted on this drink for three days and could not believe the results. Not mentioned in the book is an added surprise: decidedly younger looking skin with a dewy glow. C’mon, what are you waiting for? Buy yourself a bag of organic oranges, grapefruits, lemons, pineapple, and get cracking!
I recommend a week of light eating before you ease into any fast, trying some of the dishes from the blog: salads, stir fried veggies with brown rice, tofu scrambles, veggies in broth with tofu or soba noodles, whole grain pasta with natural tomato sauce, lots of water, lower coffee or tea intake (try one, or better yet none), and no alcohol. Take care not to rush into this fast. After your 3 days of fasting, be thoughtful, slowly incorporating, more solid food (hopefully more healthy) so as not to undo the positive results of your fast.
To boost circulation, treat your body to daily dry skin brushing and massage yourself with homemade aromatherapy oil:

Grapefruit Skin Cocktail
All of the fruit should be organic and fresh, not canned.
3 large grapefruits, peeled and cut into chunks for easy juicing
1 large orange, peeled and cut in half
1 medium lemon, peeled and cut in half
cup pineapple, trimmed and cut into chunks
1. Juice all of the fruit, stir to blend and serve.
With a fast, you will be drinking this cocktail as much as needed for three days. Use a straw to drink the juice, sparing your teeth the natural sugar and acid of citrus. Chase the drink with a glass of water, and brush your teeth with natural toothpaste (I like Tom’s of Maine).
Ease back in to solid food by light eating over the following week, using the recipes above or in the archive (steering clear of the deserts you devils), or any simply prepared meals with a focus on organic vegetables, whole grain breads, pastas, tempeh, and tofu.
